Fed: ACOSS warns against cuts in Job Network funding
The Australian Council of Social Service has warned against any plans to cut assistancefor the unemployed in next month's budget.
ACOSS president ANDREW McCALLUM says there should be increased investment to make theJob Network work properly.
Mr McCALLUM says there's speculation the government will under-spend its Job Networkbudget again this year, and that this saving will be cut from next year's budget."
The ACOSS boss says the amount under-spent on the Job Network last year indicates thecut will be more than $100 million.
He says that would slash future employment assistance for jobless people by one-tenth.
