Vic: Two injured when car smashes into bottle shop

Two people were injured .. and Geelong's Grovedale Hotel suffered serious structural
damage .. when a car crossed through a T-intersection and smashed into its bottle shop.

Police say the accident happened on the Surf Coast Highway at Grovedale shortly before
10 o'clock (AEST) last night.

Geelong traffic management unit Senior Constable RON GRAY says someone could have been
killed or seriously injured .. as the car came to rest in the shop's cool room.

Senior Constable GRAY says it's fortunate there was no fatality .. as a staff member
was supposed to be doing stocktake at the time of the accident.

The driver .. a 42-year-old Grovedale man .. and a 30-year-old diner inside the hotel
.. from Belmont .. were taken to Geelong Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver will be charged on summons with driving offences.

The building suffered serious structural damage.
