NSW: XPT train services back on track

New South Wales' XPT trains are back on track today .. after safety testing cleared
the trains of major safety concerns.

All XPT services were suspended after an XPT locomotive with a cracked axle derailed
near Harden .. in southern New South Wales .. last Thursday.

RailCorp says all XPT trains have been checked.





The Rail Tram and Bus Union says it's concerned the poor condition of some country
rail lines could be damaging trains.

Union secretary .. NICK LEWOCKI .. says the New South Wales government should conduct
a safety audit of the state's country train tracks to determine if extra maintenance is
needed.
