NSW:Beached whale rescuers wait for high tide

Rescue workers are hopeful a whale found beached on the New South Wales' south coast
today will survive.

The 12-meter Bryde's whale was discovered on Seven Mile Beach near Shoalhaven Heads
.. just before midday.

Whale rescue organisation ORRCA and National Park rangers are assisting the animal
by keeping it moist and shaded.

ORRCA volunteer SHONA LORIGAN says crews will remain with the whale throughout the
night and are hoping with the high tide at 1.30 tomorrow morning it will be able to make
its own way out to sea.

Another Bryde's whale recently became stranded at Iluka on the state's north coast
.. but it died within a few hours of being found.
